Mullen and Sandhills Valley were among the teams that competed at the Hershey/St. Pat’s track invite on Friday. It was a great day for the Mullen girls team. Mullen claimed six individual championships and two golds in the relays. Peyton Paxton claimed two golds winning the 1600 (5:53.83) and the 3200 (12:55.98). Riley Hegland was runner up in the 3200. Brynne McCulley was runner up in both the 100 and 200 and was champion in the 400 with a winning time of 1:05.22. Harper Andersen won the girls 800 in a time of 2:37.82. Jenna Donohoe won the girls 100 meter hurdles (18.55) and was runner up in the 300 meter hurdles. Georgia Wingebach of Mullen was runner up in the 100 meter hurdles. Mullen won both the 4×400 and 4×800 meter relays. In the field events, Ella Rice won the high jump with an effort of 4’8″ and Morgan Hassett was runner up in the shot put. Top performance for the Sandhills Valley girls came in the triple jump where Saije Phelps placed third.
Area highlights on the boys side, Alex Werner of Mullen won the boys 400 in a time of 51.35 seconds while Nick Gonzales of Mullen was third in the event. Werner was third in the 100 and runner up in the 200. Cayden Hampton of Mullen was runner up in the 300 meter hurdles and was third in the boys high jump. Colton Miller of Sandhills Valley had a solid day in the throws finishing third in both the shot put and discus. In the relays, Mullen was second in the 4×400 and third in the 4×100. Sandhills Valley was third in the 4×800.
