The 2025 NSAA girls state wrestling championships began Tuesday at the CHI Health Center in Omaha. It was a great opening day for Broken Bow with two of the three state qualifiers advancing to the semifinals of their weight class. Stayci Medina Lopez advanced to the Class B semifinals at 170 lbs. winning by fall over Elizabeth DeRoos of Crofton/Bloomfield in the quarterfinals. Ida Bumgarner advanced to the semifinals at 190 lbs. winning by fall over Annabelle Poppe of Crofton/Bloomfield in the quarters. Broken Bow’s Zoe Jones won her opening round match but then dropped a tight 5-4 decision in the quarterfinals to Bettie Chambers of Palmyra. Jones will wrestle in the consolation round on Wednesday.
Morgan Hawkins of Ansley/Litchfield advanced to the Class B semifinals at 235 lbs. winning by fall over Allee Jo Inzauro of Connestoga in the quarterfinals. Rylee Kursave of Arcadia/Loup City advanced to the Class B semifinals at 170 lbs. winning by fall over Emma Finecy of Columbus Lakeview in the quarters. Abby Negley of Cozad qualified for the Class B semifinals at 105 lbs. winning by a 7-1 decision over Keira Crane of Minden in the quarterfinals.
The final day of the girls state tournament is Wednesday beginning with first round consolation matches at 9 a.m. followed by second round consolation matches. Semifinals and third round consolation matches are scheduled for 12:30 followed by the consolation semifinals and medal matches for third and fifth. The championship finals are scheduled for 6:30.
