Fall Sports Preview – Mullen Football

The Mullen football team will look to build off a 4-4 record from last year as they prepare for the 2023 season.  Head coach Wade Marsh took time to visit with KCNI/KBBN radio about the upcoming season.  When asked what has stood out so far during fall camp, coach Marsh commented about the overall speed of this year’s team.

“I think the one thing that has really stuck out has been speed.  We are not as big up front but I feel like our skill guys are going to be quicker this year.”

The Broncos have a team of 16 this year.  Working with that number, coach Marsh said one of the keys to success will be the need to just stay healthy.

“If we stay healthy.  I mean that’s our main objective this year is we just got to stay healthy.  Like I said we got 16 kids and their spread fairly evenly.  We only got a couple of juniors, five or six freshmen.  I like them but they’re going to get thrown into the fire and they’re going to have to play some varsity football and our sophomores, they’re kind of the same way.  We just can’t afford to get dinged up and have a bunch of guys missing time because we just don’t have the depth this year.  I’d say the key to us have a good season is we just have to stay healthy.”

Mullen will play in the D2-9 district this year with South Loup, Sandhills/Thedford, Anselmo-Merna, Hyannis, and Leyton.  The Broncos open the season August 25th when they host Medicine Valley.
