D1 and D2 District Wrestling Area Recap

Area wrestlers competed at the D1 and D2 district meets on Saturday.  The top four finishers in each weight class qualified for the state tournament next week in Omaha.

Anselmo-Merna and South Loup were among the teams that competed at the D1 district at Weeping Water.  South Loup qualified four wrestlers for state.  They included Josiah Coleman at 106 lbs. (Champion), Dawson Mason at 132 lbs. (runner up), CJ Quandt at 144 lbs. (runner-up), Dawson Doggett at 190 lbs. (Champion).  Anselmo-Merna qualified three wrestlers for state.  They included Jarrett Wells at 138 lbs. (runner-up), Tyce Porter at 165 lbs. (Champion), and Tayte Thornton at 215 lbs. (runner-up).

Ansley/Litchfield, Twin Loup, and Burwell were among the teams that competed at the D2 district at Shelby Rising City.  Burwell was the district team champion with 171.5 points.  The Longhorns qualified nine for state.  They included Brody Jensen at 106 lbs. (Champion), Holden Hodges at 113 lbs. (4th), Drew Dawe at 126 lbs. (3rd), Kolton Thoene at 132 lbs. (4th), Austin Mayfield at 138 lbs. (Champion), Cort Buss at 144 lbs. (4th), Cale Buss at 190 lbs. (runner up), Hagen Hodges at 215 lbs. (3rd) and Cy Feeken at 215 lbs. (4th).  Twin Loup qualified two for state.  They included Keaton Dowse at 144 lbs. (3rd) and Garrett Keith at 165 lbs. (4th).  Andy Cash of Ansley/Litchfield qualified for state finishing 4th at 285 lbs.
