The D-6 district cross country championships took place in Grant, NE Wednesday. Mullen was the girls district team runner-up behind Hemingford. The Lady Broncos qualify as a team for the Class D NSAA state championships on October 20th in Kearney. Mullen’s Peyton Paxton was the individual runner up in a time of 20:57.41 which was less than a half second behind champion Dakota Horstman of Hemingford. Mullen placed four runners in the top 15. Harper Anderson placed 9th, Riley Hegland was 11th, and Ady Hampton finished 12th.
The top three teams and top fifteen runners from each district qualify for state. Area highlights in the boys race included Mullen’s Kyle Finney qualifying for state in the boys race. Finney placed 14th in a time of 19:07.53. Keith Morash of Sandhills Valley just missed qualifying for state finishing 16th.
