D-5 District Cross Country – Ella Cool of South Loup Girls District Champion

The D-5 district cross country championships took place Thursday at Cambridge.  The top three teams and top 15 individuals qualified for the Class D state championship in Kearney which will take place on October 20th.

The boys district team champion was Axtell followed by Franklin in second and Bertrand was third.  South Loup finished fourth just 3 points behind Bertrand for the last team qualifying spot.  Logan Recoy of South Loup qualified for state as an individual placing third overall in a time of 17:39.  Also qualifying for state was South Loup’s Josiah Coleman who placed 15th in a time of 18:46.  The boys district champion was Keyton Cole of Axtell in a winning time of 17:23.

The girls team champion was Elm Creek followed by Cambridge in second and Brady was third.  South Loup finished 6th in the team standings.  The top area highlight was South Loup’s Ella Cool being crowned the girls individual district champion.  Cool posted the winning time of 21:37.71.  South Loup’s Ivy Tullis qualified for state as an individual finishing 14th and Rilyn Schledewitz of SEM was a state qualifier placing 8th overall.
