Champions Crowned and Records Set at MNAC Track and Field Championships

The Mid Nebraska Activities Conference hosted its annual track and field championships Thursday at the track facility in Arnold.  Teams that make up the MNAC include Sandhills/Thedford, Anselmo-Merna, Twin Loup, Brady, South Loup, Arthur County, Hyannis, Sandhills Valley, Mullen, and Cody Kilgore.  The boys conference team champion was South Loup. South Loup’s win in the final event of the meet (4×400) propelled them into first in the team standings with 118 points and Sandhills Valley was runner up with 112 points. Sandhills/Thedford was the girls team champion with 92 points and South Loup was second with 88.

It was a record setting day as seven new MNAC meet records were set.

Among the highlights, Clayton Moore of Mullen was a triple gold medalist sweeping the boys hurdles and winning the boys long jump.  Moore’s winning effort in the long jump was 21′ 6″ and his winning times in the hurdles were 16.07 in the 110 meter high hurdles and 40.7 in the 300 meter hurdles which was a new conference meet record breaking the old record of 41.1 held by Lance Moore. Tierston Moore of Mullen was a multiple gold medalist winning the girls 400 in a time of 1:03.89 and winning the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 16.05 seconds. Tad Dimmitt of Sandhills Valley swept the boys throwing events winning the shot put with an effort of 54′ and winning the discus with an effort of 142′ 9″. Cache Gracey of South Loup set a new MNAC meet record in the boys 400 meters with a winning time of 50.39 seconds. The previous record was 50.9 set by Zach Carlson of Hyannis in 2017. Peyton Paxton of Mullen set a MNAC meet record in the girls 3200 meters with a winning time of 12:05.55. Paxton broke her own record of 12:38 which she set last year. Paxton picked up a second gold medal in the girls 1600 with a winning time of 5:43.25. Dillon Miller of Brady was also a multiple gold medal winner placing first in the 100 with a time of 11.35 and set a new MNAC meet record in winning the 200 in a time of 22.67. The previous mark was 23 flat held by Zach Carlson of Hyannis set back in 2017. South Loup set a new MNAC meet record in winning the boys 4×400 meter relay. The team of Silas Cool, Cache Gracey, Dylan Pandorf, and Logan Recoy posted a winning time of 3:33.7 breaking the old mark of 3:37 set by Brady in 2015. Arthur County set a new meet record in the boys 4×100 with a time of 45.19 which edged the previous mark of 45.2 set by Sandhills/Thedford last year. Sandhills/Thedford set a new conference meet record in the girls 4×400 meter relay. The team of Karley Haake, Tenley Rasmussen, Dayle Haake, and Anna Clark posted a winning time of 4:20.02 which broke the old mark of 4:22.7 set by Brady in 2016.
