Broken Bow Student Callie White Helps at US Olympic Swim Trials

The summer Olympics are scheduled to begin July 23rd in Tokyo, Japan.  The United States swim team is now set after competition at the US Olympic Swim Trials was held at the CHI Health Center in Omaha earlier this month.  Broken Bow high school student Callie White was presented with the opportunity and honor of working at the US Swim Trials this year.  White visited with KCNI/KBBN radio about her experience and shared how she came to be chosen for the occasion.

White served as a basket carrier during the event.  She described what the assignment involved.

White connected with some of the top athletes in the sport of swimming.  Among those she noted were five time Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Katie Ledecky as well as three time Olympic gold medalist and current record holder in the men’s 100 meter backstroke Ryan Murphy.  White said she was impressed by the kindness and humility shown by the athletes.
