Broken Bow competed at the B-5 district track and field championships at Aurora on Tuesday. Northwest won both the boys and girls district team titles. Broken Bow placed fifth in the boys team standings with 55 points. Broken Bow was 9th in the girls standings with 28 points.

Top 3 in each field event and individual running event automatically qualify for state and the next six best performances of the non automatic qualifiers across all districts qualify for state. The top two places in each relay event automatically qualify and the next four fastest times of the non qualifiers across all districts. Additional qualifiers for the pole vault and high jump are based on automatic qualifying heights.

Broken Bow’s Max Denson was the district champion in the boys shot put with a winning effort of 56’1.5″. Denson qualifies for state in the event as does Evan Cyboron of Broken Bow who was runner up in the boys shot put with a personal best effort of 52’1.75″. Coy Wardyn of Broken Bow was the district champion in the boys pole vault with a winning effort of 14’6″. Cruze Safranek of Broken Bow won the boys 100 meter dash in a winning time of 10.66 seconds.  Safranek was also the champion in the boys 200 in a personal best time of 22.63 seconds. Keelyn Shea of Broken Bow qualified for state in the girls discus placing third with a personal best 126’1″. Janae Marten of Broken qualified for state in the girls shot put. Marten was third with an effort of 36′ .75″.
