Broken Bow hosted Northwest of Grand Island for a girls and boys basketball doubleheader Friday night at the Indian gym. The Broken Bow girls improved to 7-1 on the season with a 62-36 win over Northwest who dropped to 5-4 overall this season. Broken Bow knocked down a school record 12 three pointers in the win. Seven players scored for the Lady Indians led by MaKinley Tobey who had a game high 23 and Halle McCaslin finished in double figures with 17.
In the boys game, Northwest pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 55-35 win. Broken Bow trailed by 12 at the half but was able to trim the Northwest lead down to six in the third quarter. The Vikings would outscored the Indians 20-8 in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Broken Bow was led by Dominic Nowak who had a team 12 points.
Broken Bow will compete in the Adams Central holiday tournament next week on December 29th and 30th. The Broken Bow girls are the top seed in the four team tournament and will face Alliance in the opening round. Adams Central is the #2 seed and will face Boone Central. On the boys side, Broken Bow is the #3 seed and will face Boone Central to open the tournament. Adams Central is the top seed in the boys tournament and will face Alliance in the opening round.
