The Broken Bow Spirit 18U softball team hosted Cozad for a doubleheader Tuesday night. Broken Bow took control of game one in their first at bat scoring nine runs on their way to an 11-1 win. Bow had just four hits in the game but took advantage of seven walks. Lily Thornton picked up the win in the circle giving up just one run on two hits and striking out four. Thornton also helped lead the way offensively going 1 for 1 at the plate with a triple, a run scored, and 2 RBI. Ruby Russell was 1 for 1 with two runs scored and Skylar Smith was 1 for 1 with a run scored and 1 RBI. Avery Svoboda collected the other hit for the Spirit.
In game two, Cozad jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first inning but Broken Bow scored 4 runs in the second to retake the lead. In the bottom of the 2nd, Cozad quickly answered with 7 runs to collect an 11-5 win. Bow had four hits in the game highlighted by a 3 run inside the park home run by Cassidy Schweitzer. Ruby Russell had a double with Lila Griffiths and Adyson Priest collecting the other hits for the Spirit who are now 9-10-1 on the season.
