The Broken Bow Spirit 18U girls softball team traveled to North Platte this weekend for tournament play. The Spirit fell to the Hastings Bombers in game 1. Bow fell behind 4-0 after 3 innings but then scored 5 runs in the fourth to take the lead. Hastings would respond though with 4 runs in their final at bat to win 8-5. Nikki Peters drove in two of Bow’s 5 runs and finished 1 for 2 with a run scored.
On Saturday, the Spirit would collect their fourth win of the season by outscoring the McCook Rebels 13-7. Bow pounded out 10 hits scoring 2 runs in the first, 7 in the 2nd, and 4 more in the third. Joscelyn Coleman and Kate Holcomb each had multi-hit games. Coleman was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 1 RBI. Holcomb was also 2 for 3 with 3 RBI.
The Spirit would fall to Blue Springs on Saturday 6-4. Bow fell behind 4-1 after three innings but scored 3 in the 4th to get to within a run. Blue Springs would hold on though for the win. Avery Campbell had a multi hit game for the Spirit going 2 for 2 with a run scored.
On Sunday, the Spirit’s offense was held in check as they fell to the Nebraska Krush 10-0.
The Bow Spirit returns home to host North Platte for a doubleheader on Tuesday at Melham Park. Tuesday’s games will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com with the opening game scheduled for 6 pm.
