Broken Bow Spirit 16/18U Girls Softball Team Compete at Class C State Tournament

The Broken Bow Spirit 16/18U girls softball team began play Friday at the Class C state tournament in Hastings.

Broken Bow fell to the York Fusion in game one 14-8.  Bow fell behind 11-4 going to the bottom of the third but scored 4 runs in the third inning to pull to within 3 thanks in part to a two run homer by Tessa Nichols.  York would get those runs back in the top of the fourth and hang on for the win.  Tessa Nichols was  2 for 3  with one run scored and 2 RBI to help lead the Spirit offense.  Dalila Griffiths also drove in two runs for the Spirit.

Broken Bow would then face Albion later in the day.  The Spirit jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first inning but Albion would hold Broken Bow scoreless after that as they came back to win 7-3.  Tessa Nichols was again one of the offensive leaders finishing 3 for 3 with one run scored and 2 RBI.

The Spirit will continue play Saturday as they are scheduled to face the Nebraska Aftershock at 9:30 a.m.
