The Broken Bow American Legion seniors baseball team will play for the Class B Area 6 championship today in Gothenburg. Broken Bow advanced through the winner’s bracket and will play Minden today for the title. Minden stayed alive by defeating and eliminating the host team Gothenburg Monday night 12-7. Broken Bow and Minden met this past Sunday in the winner’s bracket final with Broken Bow winning in five innings 8-0. Both teams have assured themselves a spot in the Class B seniors state tournament which begins Saturday in Broken Bow at Paul Brown Field. Broken Bow receives an automatic bid to the tournament as the host team. As a result, if Broken Bow wins the area tournament then the tournament runner-up will be the Area 6 representative. Therefore, both teams have qualified for state regardless of the outcome of today’s games. The two teams will meet at 2 p.m. today. Broken Bow needs one win to claim the tournament championship.
