The Broken Bow American Legion seniors baseball team split a doubleheader with North Platte Post 163 on Sunday at Broken Bow’s Paul Brown Field.
In game one, North Platte jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings but Broken Bow came back with a run in the third and three more in the fourth to tie the game. The difference was the fifth inning where North Platte erupted for ten runs on their way to a 14-4 win. Six different hitters had a hit for Broken Bow in game one. Dominic Nowak and Caenyn Priest each had a double. Nowak finished with two runs scored and one run batted in.
Broken Bow bounced back in game two behind a strong pitching performance from Caenyn Priest. Priest threw a complete game giving up just two runs on four hits with eight strikeouts. With the game tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Dominic Nowak gave Broken Bow its sixth win of the season with a walk off two-run homerun lifting the Bow seniors to a 4-2 win. Kayden Record had a multi-hit game finishing 2 for 2 with a double and two runs batted in.
The Bow seniors are now 6-6 on the season and will host Loomis on Tuesday night at Paul Brown Field as part of a juniors and seniors doubleheader. The seniors game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com with game time scheduled for 8 p.m.
