Broken Bow Seniors Fall to West Point at Area Tournament to Conclude the Season

The Broken Bow American Legion seniors baseball team saw its season come to an end on Sunday as they fell to West Point in an elimination game at the Class B Area 5 tournament in O’Neill.  The game went back forth with West Point scoring first with a run in the bottom of the second to go up 1-0.  Broken Bow came back with a three run fifth inning to take the lead but West Point responded immediately with four runs in their half of the fifth to go up 5-3.  After scoring a run in the sixth inning to make the score 5-4, Broken Bow’s Jackson Hall led off the top of the 7th with a double and then scored on a base hit by Kanzas Kellum to tie the game 5-5.  In the bottom of the 7th, Josh Snodgrass walked to lead off the inning and later came around to score the winning run as West Point claimed a 6-5 walk-off win.

Broken Bow outhit West Point 8-4.  Jackson Hall was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and Kanzas Kellum was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.  Xach Lowry had a double and a run scored.  Carter Hall was 1 for 2 with an RBI and Colton Uhlig had a base hit and a run scored.

Dominic Nowak delivered a solid performance on the mound in the starting role.  Nowak went six plus innings throwing 101 pitches while giving up 6 runs (4 earned) and striking out three.

The Bow seniors conclude the season with a 16-15 overall record.
