BROKEN BOW- The Broken Bow American Legion Post 126 Juniors and Seniors will host a doubleheader against the Gothenburg Junior and Senior Melons tonight.
The Bow Juniors are coming off two dominating wins in a doubleheader this past Sunday against McCook First Central Bank. Final scores were 11-1 and 12-1 respectively. They’ll try to keep their bats hot, after piling up 19 hits in the two wins combined.
The Post 126 Juniors and Junior Melons met recently this past Tuesday, a game in which the Melons were able to defend their home field with an 8-0 victory over Broken Bow.
On the seniors side, Broken Bow will aim to end a four game losing skid against the Melons. Their last game out, the Bow seniors fell behind early and couldn’t quite recover after giving up three runs in the first two innings against Imperial.
The Broken Bow Seniors also met the Melons recently this past Tuesday, a game resulting in a one run loss of 5-6. Broken Bow was able to make things interesting in the top of the sixth by putting two runs across the plate to take a 5 to 3 lead. The Melons brought their bats to the plate in the bottom of the sixth to take a lead they wouldn’t give back, tallying 3 runs of their own.
Tonight’s doubleheader between the Broken Bow and Gothenburg juniors and seniors is scheduled to start at 5:30 PM with the juniors, to be followed by the seniors game at 8:00. Tonight is also being penned “Bow Proud” night, with a salute to the Broken Bow High School 2023 State Champion Girls Golf team to happen on the field between games.
