Broken Bow Post 126 Seniors defeat Ord with strong sixth inning

The Broken Bow Post 126 Seniors remained perfect on the season with a 8-5 win over Ord on Thursday night in Broken Bow. Broken Bow’s only leads were at the end of the first inning and the end of the sixth inning in the six and a half inning game.

The sixth inning was ‘the big one’ for Post 126, when Broken Bow scored five runs on three hits to take a lead they wouldn’t give back. A single by Jackson Hall in the inning drove in two.

In the batter’s box, Coy Wardyn had two hits in three appearances. Hall, Dominic Nowak, Wardyn, Kayden Record, and Drew Ellis each had an RBI. Broken Bow stole six bases in the game, while defensively turning two double plays.

On the mound, Record threw three innings, striking out four and walking two. In relief, Hall put in two and a third innings of work, allowing no runs on one hit, zero strikeouts, and a walk.

Broken Bow will take their perfect record into the weekend where they will put down the aluminum bats and pick up wood ones for the Plattsmouth Wood Bat tournament. Opponents will include Concordia, Syracuse, and Bennington.
