The Broken Bow American Legion juniors and seniors baseball teams as well as the Broken Bow 18U softball team opened their seasons over the weekend.
The Broken Bow juniors and seniors Post 126 opened play on Saturday hosting Ravenna. Each team collected a run rule win in five innings. Caenyn Priest struck out nine batters and pitched a complete game four hit shutout to lead the Bow juniors to a 9-0 win. Broken Bow scored nine runs on 10 hits. Carter Hall was 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Drew Ellis was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and Queston Young had a multi-hit game going 2 for 3 with a run scored. The Bow seniors rolled to a 13-1 win in their opener on Saturday. Bow outhit Ravenna 10-1. Dominic Nowak pitched three innings of no hit baseball and struck out five to pick up the win. Colton Uhlig closed out the game pitching the final two innings giving up one run on one hit and striking out three. Coy Wardyn was 2 for 2 with a triple, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Brice Chaplin was 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI and Kayden Record had a multi-hit game going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.
On Sunday, the Bow juniors and seniors hosted Overton for a doubleheader at Paul Brown Field. The Juniors jumped out to a 9-0 lead thanks to a six run second inning and then held on for a 14-9 win. Bow outhit Overton 13-5. Carter Hall went 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. Jackson Hall was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI and Breken Rynearson also had a multi-hit game finishing 2 for 2 with 3 runs scored. The Bow seniors secured a three inning run rule win 16-1 thanks to an 8 run third inning. Brice Chaplin was the winning pitcher throwing 2 innings no hit baseball and striking out 4. Kayden Record pitched an inning of relief giving up one run on 2 hits and striking out 2. Max Denson was 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI. Record also had a multi-hit game finishing 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.

The Broken Bow Spirit 18U team hosted Cozad for a doubleheader to start the season on Sunday. Cozad edged Broken Bow 3-1 in game one. Lily Thornton was strong in the circle for the Spirit throwing a complete game giving up 3 runs on 3 hits and striking out 8 but the Cozad pitching was equally strong surrendering just one run on 3 hits. Bailey Hawkins, Hayden Christen, and Ruby Russell collected hits for the Spirit and Thornton scored the lone Spirit run. In game two, Bow bounced back in a big way securing an 8-0 win in four innings. Ida Bumgarner and Bailey Hawkins each pitched two innings with each surrendering just one hit for the combined shutout. The Spirit scored 8 runs on 10 hits. Ruby Russell was 3 for 3 with 1 RBI. Alexis Pflaster also had a multi-hit game going 2 for 2 with a run scored and 1 RBI.
