Broken Bow faced Imperial in an American Legion juniors and seniors doubleheader on Sunday.
The Bow juniors collected their third win of the season with a 7-4 win. Leading 5-4 after four innings, Broken Bow added two big insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth to help seal the win. Five different players collected a hit for Broken Bow. Cole Helleberg was 1 for 2 with two runs scored. Nathan Lowry was 1 for 1 with a run scored and one run batted in. Aiden Page had a hit and drove in two runs. Queston Young was for 1 for 2 with a run scored and Zakkary Miller collected a hit for the victorious juniors squad who have now won three of their last four.
The Bow seniors held off Imperial 10-5 for their ninth win of the season. Broken Bow led 6-5 after four innings and then added four big runs in the bottom of the fifth to help secure the win. Jackson Hall finished 2 for 3 at the plate with a double, a triple, and two runs scored. The Bow seniors have won five of their last six and will host Jersey’s of Kearney for a seniors only doubleheader Monday night at Paul Brown Field with game one scheduled for 5:30. Game two, scheduled for 8 p.m., will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.
The area tournament assignments for American Legion baseball have been announced.
The Broken Bow seniors will compete in the Class B Area 5 tournament hosted by O’Neill. Joining Broken Bow and the host team O’Neill in the Area 5 tournament will be Central City (which will serve as the National Division host of this year’s state tournament), Pierce, Wayne, West Point, and Auburn. The seniors area tournament is scheduled for July 24-28.
The Broken Bow juniors will compete in the Class B Area 6 tournament hosted by Minden. Joining them will be the host team Minden, along with Gothenburg, Holdrege, Ogallala, and Valparaiso. The juniors area tournament is scheduled for July 10 – 14.
