Broken Bow hosted Gothenburg for a juniors and seniors doubleheader Tuesday night at Paul Brown Field.
The Bow juniors collected their third win of the season holding off Gothenburg 7-6. Broken Bow led 7-2 after five innings but Gothenburg scored four runs in the sixth to climb to within a run. However, Broken Bow was able to hold Gothenburg scoreless in their final at bat to preserve the win. Carter Hall started the game for Broken Bow going 5 1/3 innings giving up six runs on seven hits and striking out two. Dominic Nowak pitched 1 2/3 innings of perfect relief to help preserve the win. Carter Hall led the way for Bow at the plate finishing 2 for 4 with two runs scored and 1 RBI.
The Bow seniors improved to 6-2 on the season with an 11-6 victory against Gothenburg. The game was tied 6-6 going to the bottom of the sixth inning but Broken Bow would bat through the order in the sixth and score five runs to help seal the win. Broken Bow’s top five batters in the lineup (Eli Coble, Coy Wardyn, Max Denson, Brice Chaplin, and Zach Loy) were a combined 12 for 17 led by Denson and Loy who were both 3 for 4 in the game. Brycen Woodward was 2 for 4 with two doubles. Gothenburg was held to just two hits in the game. Collecting hits for Gothenburg were Ethan Olson and Braden Ehlers.
