The Broken Bow girls golf team sits atop the leaderboard after the opening round of the Class C girls state golf championships. Broken Bow opened with a 344 team score on Monday which is six shots better than Minden who shot a 350 and currently sits in second place. Columbus Scotus is third after a first day total of 372.
Broken Bow was led by Camryn Johnson who sits atop the leaderboard after day one. Johnson shot the low round of the day with a 1 under par 71. Johnson had just one bogey appear on her scorecard which came on the par 3 17th. Johnson had birdies on the par 4 first hole and the par 4 sixth. Everything else on the scorecard was a par. Johnson holds a two shot lead over defending state champion Olivia Lovegrove of Lincoln Christian who shot a 1 over par 73. Johnson and Lovegrove will tee off at 11:15 Tuesday in the final group. They will be joined by Taylor Beierman of Boone Central who sits third after an opening day 78.
Taylor Schaaf of Broken Bow shot an opening round 88 Monday. Schaaf currently sits at #14 on the leaderboard and will tee off 10:39 Tuesday. Molly Custer is tied for 18th after an opening round of 91. Custer will tee off with the 10:30 group on Tuesday. Brynn Custer is tied for 29th overall after a 94 Monday. Bryn will start her final round on the front nine and is scheduled to tee off at 9:54 on Tuesday. Skylar Benjamin is tied for 39th after day one finishing with a 97 on Monday. Like all of her teammates, Benjamin will start her final round on the front nine and will be the first of the team to tee off at 9:18.
