Broken Bow Falls to Gering in Legion Baseball Doubleheader

The Broken Bow American Legion baseball teams hosted Gering for a juniors and seniors doubleheader Thursday at Paul Brown Field.

The Bow juniors fell to B&C Steel of Gering 12-2. Seven of Gering’s 12 runs were unearned as B&C took advantage of 11 walks surrendered by Broken Bow pitching. Broken Bow managed just two runs on 4 hits. Both runs were driven in by Brice Chaplin. Caedmon Jensen had two of the four hits finishing 2 for 2 with a run scored.

The seniors game had to go extra innings with Gering winning in the end 10-6 in nine innings. Broken Bow jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three innings but Platte Valley Companies of Gering would tie the game with 3 runs in the 4th. Broken Bow retook the lead with a run in the 5th but Gering would score a run in the top of the 7th to tie the game and send it to extra innings. Neither team would score in the 8th but Gering would erupt for six runs in the top of the 9th as they held on for a 10-6 win. Broken Bow would outhit Gering 12-8 with four players finishing with multi hit games. Brice Chaplin helped lead the offense finishing 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI including a home run in the third inning.

Both legion teams are scheduled to play at Imperial on Saturday and at St. Paul on Sunday.
