Broken Bow Competes Today at B5 District Track and Field Championships – Reports on KBBN

Broken Bow will be among the teams competing today at the B5 district track and field championships at Holdrege.  Field events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with running events scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.  Joining Broken Bow at today’s meet will be Adams Central, Aurora, Central City, Hastings, Holdrege, Minden, Northwest, St. Paul, and York.

The goal today is to qualify for the Class B state track championships which will take place May 17th and 18th at Burke Stadium in Omaha.  The top three in each running event today will automatically qualify for the state meet plus the next six fastest times of non-qualifiers across all districts.  In the relays, the top two places will automatically qualify plus the next four fastest times of the non qualifiers across all districts.  In the field events (long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus), the first three places will qualify for the state meet plus the next six best performances of the non qualifiers across all districts.  In the pole vault and high jump, the first three places will qualify plus those who equal or exceed the following additional qualifier marks.  Boys pole vault – 13′ / Boys high jump – 6’3″ / Girls pole vault- 10′ / Girls high jump – 5′ 2″.
