Broken Bow was among the teams that competed at the C-5 district cross country meet held at Ogallala’s Crandall Creek Country Club and golf course on Wednesday. The top three teams and top 15 individuals qualified for the state meet next week in Kearney.
The girls district team champion was Chase County followed by Gothenburg in second and Kearney Catholic was third. Broken Bow finished 7th in the team standings. The individual district champion was Scout Bell of Gothenburg in a winning time of 20:00.77. Qualifying for state as an individual was Broken Bow’s Ashlyn Schauda. Schauda placed fifth with a time of 20:59.04. In other area notes, Cozad’s Audrey Baker qualified for state finishing in 12th place.
The boys district team champion was Holdrege followed by Gothenburg in second and Minden was third. Broken Bow finished 10th in the team standings. The individual district champion was Tyler Hetz of Gothenburg in a winning time of 16:23.17. In other area notes, Koang Deng of Cozad qualified for state as an individual finishing 4th in a time of 16:50.3. The top Broken Bow finisher was Logan Bell finishing 26th in a time of 18:59.07.
The NSAA state cross country championships will take place on Friday, October 24th at the Kearney Country Club and golf course.
