The Broken Bow Spirit 18U team hosted the Loup River Sentinels for a doubleheader Tuesday at Melham Park in Broken Bow.
Broken Bow took game one 8-3. Lily Thornton picked up the win in the circle throwing four innings giving up 3 runs on 5 hits and striking out 4. Ida Bumgarner delivered a two RBI double in the first inning and a two RBI single in the second to help give Broken Bow a 5-2 lead after two innings. The Spirit added three more runs in the third inning to help secure the win. Anslee Campbell had a multi-hit game finishing 2 for 3 with a run scored.
In game two, some of Broken Bow’s younger players took the field. The Sentinels picked up the win 6-0 but the Spirit showed that the future is bright with their young talent. Mandi Mattox was 2 for 2 while Emma Thornton and Sterling Rae Campbell each collected a hit for the Spirit.
