Broken Bow was among the teams that competed at the B5 district track and field championships in Holdrege. Broken Bow automatically qualified seven entries for the state track and field championships next week in Omaha. Max Denson was the district champion in the boys shot put with a winning effort of 51′ 9.5″. Coy Wardyn was the district champion in the boys pole vault clearing 14′. Taylor Schaaf qualified in the girls discus placing 2nd with an effort of 113′ 8″. Zane Eggleston was an automatic state qualifier in the boys 300 meter hurdles finishing as the district runner up in a time of 40.87 seconds. The Broken Bow girls 4×800 meter relay team placed 2nd to qualify for the state meet. The team of Halle Quinn, MaKinley Tobey, Maren Chapin, and Gaby Staples was less than 2 seconds behind champion Hastings with a time of 10:04.41. Noah Osmond qualified for state in the boys 3200 meters finishing 3rd in a time of 10:19.02. Osmond would also qualify in the boys 1600 placing third in a time of 4:39.43. There is the opportunity for others to qualify based on time and performance.
