Broken Bow American Legion Seniors Compete at Plattsmouth Wood Bat Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion Seniors baseball team competed at the Plattsmouth Wood Bat Tournament over the weekend.

The Bow seniors dropped their opening game on Friday to Concordia Omaha Legacy Design Strategies 13-4.  Legacy jumped out to a 9-0 lead through the first 2 1/2 innings.  Bow tried to battle back with 2 runs in the bottom of the third and two more in the bottom of the fifth but Legacy sealed the win with four runs in the sixth.  Seven different players collected a hit for Bow.  Dominic Nowak was 1 for 3 including a homerun, a run scored, and 2 RBI.

Bow bounced back on Saturday shutting out Syracuse 8-0.  Jackson and Carter Hall combined for the shutout.  Jackson picked up the win going 3 1/3 innings giving up three hits and striking out two.  Carter went 3 2/3 innings surrendering no hits and striking out two.  Max Denson and Kanzas Kellum each went 3 for 4.  Denson scored two runs and drove in two and Kellum had an RBI to help lead the Bow offense.

The Bow seniors ended the tournament on Sunday falling 4-3 to Bennington Post 266.  Bennington led 3-1 when Brice Chaplin hit a two run homer to tie the game at 3-3 in the fifth inning but Bennington scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to retake the lead and hang on for the win.  The Bow seniors outhit Bennington 10-5.  Max Denson pitched a complete game for Broken Bow surrendering four runs on five hits and striking out seven.  Chaplin finished 2 for 2 at the plate with 3 RBI and one run scored.  Coy Wardyn was 2 for 4 with a run scored and Kayden Record also had a multi-hit game finishing 2 for 3.

The Bow seniors are now 4-2 on the season.
