Broken Bow American Legion Juniors Sweep Cozad in Doubleheader

The Broken Bow American Legion juniors baseball team improved to 7-1 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Cozad on Thursday night at Paul Brown Field.  Broken Bow took game one 9-0 in five innings.  Max Denson pitched five innings of no hit baseball and struck out 12 of the 16 batters he faced to pick up the win.  Bow erupted for six runs in the second inning to take control.  Eli Coble, Brice Chaplin, and Zach Loy all went 2 for 3 to lead the offensive attack.

Broken Bow received another outstanding pitching performance in game two as Owen Hartman pitched five innings of shutout baseball and struck out 12 as Bow took game two 16-0.  Broken Bow pounded out 13 hits in the win and scored 12 of their 16 runs in the first three innings.  Max Denson hit his fourth home run of the season at the juniors level with a 3 run blast in the third inning.  Denson finished the night 3 for 5 with 4 runs batted in.  Eli Coble was 2 for 2 with 2 walks scoring 3 runs a driving in a run.

Broken Bow goes on the road Saturday for a juniors / seniors doubleheader at McCook.
