Broken Bow American Legion Baseball Weekend Recap

The  Broken Bow American Legion Seniors baseball team hosted Imperial for a seniors doubleheader on Saturday.

Imperial scored four runs in their first at bat and held off Broken Bow bats to claim a 6-2 win.  Max Denson collected his first home run of the season hitting a solo shot in the third inning.  Brice Chaplin and Coy Wardyn each had a double for the Bow seniors.  Broken Bow came back to split the doubleheader winning game two 4-3.  Bow trailed 3-2 after five innings but scored 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth to come back for the win.  Coy Wardyn was 2 for 4 with a triple and one run scored.  Owen Hartman also had a multi hit game finishing 2 for 3 with a run scored and 1 RBI.

On Sunday, Broken Bow hosted Ogallala for a juniors and seniors doubleheader.  In the juniors game, there were only five total hits in the game but each team took advantage of walks and errors as Ogallala came from behind to claim a 10-9 win.  Broken Bow’s hits came off the bats of Logan Bell and Landon Lindley as the juniors dropped to 7-9 on the season. In the seniors game, Broken Bow faced Ogallala’s ace pitcher Caden Rezac. Rezac threw his max amount of pitches shutting out the Bow seniors for 6 2/3 innings surrendering just 2 hits and striking out 15 to lead Ogallala to a 5-0 win. Collecting hits for Broken Bow were Brice Chaplin and Brycen Woodward. The Bow seniors are now 12-5 on the season.
