Broken Bow Advances to Winner’s Bracket of Area Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion Seniors baseball team advanced to the winner’s bracket of the Class B Area 6 tournament on Friday with an impressive opening round win over Doniphan/Trumbull/Giltner 16-0.  Broken Bow jumped out quickly scoring four runs in their first at bat to go up 4-0.  Bow then put the game away in the bottom of the 2nd as they sent 16 men to the plate in the inning and scored 12 runs to end the game in the 2nd inning on the run rule.  Broken Bow’s 16 runs came on 8 hits.  Max Denson led the way offensively finishing 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 4 RBI.  Dominic Nowak had a multi hit game finishing 2 for 3 with one run scored and two RBI.  Carter Hall pitched 1 2/3 innings to pick up the win allowing no runs on 1 hit and striking out two.

With the win, Broken Bow advances to play Central City Saturday evening at 7 p.m.  Central City defeated Gothenburg 8-3 in the opening round.  In the other opening round game Friday, Holdrege collected a walk off win over McCook 9-8 to advance to play the top seed Minden on Saturday.
