Broken Bow Advances to SWC Girls Semifinals

The Broken Bow girls basketball team advanced to the SWC tournament semifinals for the seventh consecutive year with a 51-39 win over Holdrege Tuesday night. The three point shot was big for Broken Bow in the first half as the Lady Indians knocked down six in the opening half to take a 24-20 lead into halftime.  Broken Bow would create separation in the third quarter outscoring Holdrege 18-10 in the quarter.  The Lady Indians were led by MaKinley Tobey who had a team high 19 points.  Gaby Staples finished in double figures with 12 points and Halle McCaslin had 11 as Broken Bow improves to 13-2 on the season.  Broken Bow will face Gothenburg in the semifinal round.  The Lady Swedes defeated McCook in the quarters 59-41.  The Broken Bow / Gothenburg semifinal will be played Friday night at North Platte Community College and will be the final game of the day with a scheduled tip off time of 8 pm.  The game will be broadcast on KCNI 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com.  In other SWC girls quarterfinal action, top seed Minden defeated Valentine 62-24.  The Lady Whippets will play Ainsworth in the semifinals.  Ainsworth edged Ogallala in the quarterfinals 50-47.

In the SWC boys quarterfinals, Holdrege defeated Ainsworth in overtime 75-73.  Cozad defeated Minden 54-35.  Ogallala defeated Valentine 77-50 and Gothenburg defeated McCook 62-45.
