Broken Bow Advances to Final Four of Area Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion seniors baseball team stayed alive in the Class B Area 6 tournament with a 10-6 win over McCook in an elimination game Sunday at Paul Brown Field.  After being held to one run on five hits Saturday against Central City, the Broken Bow bats came alive Sunday producing 10 runs on 17 hits.  Max Denson was 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and Eli Coble was 3 for 4 with one run scored and one run batted in.  Zach Loy, Owen Hartman and Kayden Record also had multi hit games for the Bow seniors.  Loy finished 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.  Hartman was 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI and Record was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.

Broken Bow used three pitchers to collect the win.  Dominic Nowak started the game and collected the win going 3 innings giving up 1 run on 1 hit and striking two.  Jackson Hall followed pitching 3 innings giving up 5 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits.  Brice Chaplin came on in relief in the 7th to close the door giving up just one hit to secure the win.

Broken Bow improves to 18-7 on the season and is one of four teams remaining in the B6 area tournament.  Broken Bow will face Holdrege Monday night in another elimination game at 7 p.m.   Holdrege suffered its first loss of the tournament Sunday falling to Central City 11-9.  Central City is the only remaining undefeated team in the tournament.  Central City will play Minden Monday at 4 p.m.  Central City is assured a spot in the championship round on Tuesday while Minden must win to stay alive in the tournament.
