Boys Sub District Basketball Recap / Preview

The Broken Bow boys basketball team saw their season come to a close Monday night as they fell to Chase County in the opening game of the C1-11 boys sub district tournament in Ogallala. Broken Bow pulled to within eight late in the third quarter but Chase County went on a 5-0 to close out the quarter and then pulled away in the fourth for a 58-32 win. Eight players scored for Broken Bow led by Gavin Carrizales, Brock Oeltjen, and Braxtton Johnson who all finished with six points. Chase County advances to play top seed Ogallala on Tuesday night. The other game at the C1-11 sub on Tuesday will feature Cozad vs Gothenburg.

Twin Loup faced Burwell Monday night in the opening game of the D1-11 boys sub district tournament in Ansley. Twin Loup held off the Longhorns 58-37. The Wolves were led by Henry Sortum who finished with a game high 15 points and Quincy Ryker also finished in double figures for Twin Loup with 14. Burwell was led by Wryder Svoboda who had a team high 11. With the win, Twin Loup advances to play top seed Ansley/Litchfield on Tuesday. Tip off for the game is scheduled for 5:30 followed by South Loup vs Sandhills Valley at 7. Both games will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com. Sandhills/Thedford hosts the D2-9 sub district in Thedford beginning tonight. S/T is the top seed and will face Brady tonight while Mullen will meet Anselmo-Merna in the 2/3 matchup. The winners of tonight’s games will face off for the sub district championship on Thursday.

Arcadia/Loup City begins play at the C2-10 sub district in Grand Island today. ALC will face top seed GICC tonight with the winner advancing to face the winner of Ravenna vs. Hastings St. Cecilia.

SEM is the #3 seed at the D2-7 sub district at Shelton. SEM will face #2 seed Elm Creek tonight. The top seed at the sub district is Shelton who will face Silver Lake tonight. The winners will move out to the sub district championship game on Thursday.
