The Broken Bow boys basketball team advanced in the bracket at the C1-9 sub district tournament hosted by Grand Island Central Catholic. Broken Bow pulled away from Wilber-Clatonia in the second half to advance with a 70-42 win. Broken Bow led 23-17 but came out red hot in the second half outscoring Wilber-Clatonia 30-12 in the third quarter. Broken Bow made seven 3’s in the third quarter and finished with nine from beyond the arc for the game. Kyan Tobey led the way for the Indians finishing with a game high 22 points with 17 of those coming in the third quarter where he knocked down four of his five 3’s for the game. Dominic Nowak also finished with double figures for Bow with 18. With the win, Broken Bow improves to 11-13 on the season and advances to play top seed GICC Tuesday night. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on KCNI 1280 AM / 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com.
Burwell defeated Sandhills Valley 41-30 in the opening game of the D1-10 sub district tournament at Sargent. With the win, Burwell advances to face the top seed Twin Loup on Tuesday. The game is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 followed by Anselmo-Merna vs South Loup. Both games will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com. A live video stream of each game, accompanied by the radio call, will be available through the Sandhills Express Facebook Page and Sandhills Express You Tube Channel. Tuesday’s winners will advance to the sub district final on Thursday.
Brady defeated Ansley/Litchfield 57-35 in the opening game of the D2-8 sub district tournament at SEM. Brady advances to play top seed SEM on Tuesday. On the other side of the bracket, Sandhills/Thedford will face Medicine Valley
Arcadia/Loup City advanced at the C2-9 sub district tournament at Sandy Creek. The Rebels defeated Centura, in overtime, 63-60 to advance. ALC will face Amherst in the next round. On the other side of the bracket, top seed Sandy Creek will play Superior.
Mullen is the top seed and is hosting the D2-12 sub district tournament. The Broncos will face Crawford who edged Hay Springs Monday night 50-48. Gothenburg is the top seed at the C1-8 sub district tournament. The Swedes will face Holdrege who advanced with a 67-55 win over St. Paul. Cozad is the top seed at the C1-7 sub district tournament. The Haymakers will face Central City who defeated Kearney Catholic Monday night 59-49.
