The NSAA has released the bracket and pairings for the 2024 NSAA boys state basketball championships which begin March 6th in Lincoln.
Ansley/Litchfield is the #3 seed in the Class D1 tournament. The Spartans are 20-3 this season and advanced to the state tournament by claiming the D1-3 district championship with a win over Cambridge. A/L will face Plainview in their first round tournament game. Plainview is 17-7 and edged South Loup 55-53 to win the D1-8 district title to advance to state. This will be the second meeting of the season between the two. They met one another back on December 29th during the Burwell holiday tournament with Plainview winning 41-38. The rematch will take place Thursday (3/7) tipping off at 7:45 p.m. at the Devaney Center in Lincoln. The winner will advance to the state semifinals where they will face the winner of Johnson Brock vs Riverside. On the other side of the D1 bracket, top seed North Platte St. Pat’s will face GACC and Ainsworth will face Dundy County Stratton.
SEM is the #6 seed in the Class D2 tournament. The Mustangs are 17-7 and return to state for the second consecutive year after finishing 3rd in the tournament last season. SEM advanced to state by winning the D2-3 district championship 46-40 over Lawrence Nelson. SEM will face #3 seed Walthill on Wednesday (3/6) at the Devaney Center in Lincoln with tip off scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Walthill is 18-4 this season and advanced to state by claiming the D2-4 district championship defeating High Plains Community 73-52. The winner will advance to the state semifinals where they will face the winner of Maywood Hayes Center vs Elm Creek. On the other side of the D2 bracket, top seed Shelton will face Humphrey St. Francis and Wynot will meet St. Mary’s.
