The Broken Bow Spirit 18U softball team increased their winning streak to six in a row with a two game sweep of the KT Diamonds on Tuesday. In game one, Lily Thornton drove in four runs and scored two runs to help the Spirit claim an 11-2 win. Ida Bumgarner was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI and Skylar Smith also had a multi-hit game finishing 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Thornton pitched a complete game in the circle for the win giving up two runs on just one hit with eight strikeouts.
In game two, it was another dominant performance for the Spirit. Broken Bow collected a 15-0 shutout win in three innings. Sara Howell picked up the win in the circle giving up just three hits and striking out six. Eight different players collected a hit for the Spirit. Aubrey Hammerlun was 3 for 3 at the plate with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI. Hallie Meyer also had a multi-hit game finishing 2 for 2 with a run scored and 1 RBI.
The Spirit have now won 10 of their last 11 and are now 20-15 on the season.
