The Broken Bow Spirit 16/18U girls softball team completed its season Saturday at the Class C state tournament in Hastings.
After falling to the York Fusion and Albion on Friday, the Spirit faced the “Aftershock” in the consolation bracket on Saturday. The Spirit collected a state tournament victory with a 5-3 come from behind win. The Spirit trailed 3-1 but scored 4 runs in their final at bat. Cassidy Schweitzer was 2 for 3 with a double and Adyson Priest was 2 for 2 with a run scored to help lead the offense. Lily Thornton pitched a complete game for the win giving up 3 runs on 8 hits and had one strike out.
The win advanced the Spirit in the bracket where they would face “WDSA”. WDSA used an 8 run first inning to key a 14-0 victory. The Spirit had 5 hits in the game by 5 different players.
The Bow Spirit finish with a record of 14-16-2.
