Bow Juniors Stay Alive in Area Tournament with Another Walk Off Win

After falling to McCook on Saturay, the Broken Bow American Legion juniors baseball team stayed alive in the Class B-6 area tournament with their second dramatic extra inning walk off win of the tournament. Once again it was Drew Ellis who delivered the game winning hit for the Bow juniors. Just like he did on Friday against Alliance, Ellis drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning this time bringing in Carter Hall to end the game. Bow’s opponent was Shelton/Gibbon who scored a run in their first at bat to take a 1-0 lead but never scored again. Broken Bow’s Aiden Page started the game on the mound going five innings and was able to pitch around seven walks as he held S/G to just one run on two hits and struck out six. Carter Hall pitched three innings of shutout relief giving up two hits and striking out three. Offensively, it was Ellis and Hall who helped lead the way as Ellis also drove in Carter Hall in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game. Aiden Page finished 2 for 3 at the plate with a triple. With the win, Broken Bow avoids tournament elimination and will play on Monday against top seed Holdrege with game time scheduled for 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on the web at kbbn.com.
