Big Weekend Ahead for Broken Bow American Legion Baseball

The Broken Bow American Legion Juniors baseball team (Post 126) will begin play this weekend in the Class B-6 Area Tournament in Holdrege.  Broken Bow is the #3 seed in the tournament and will face #6 seed Alliance on Friday at 1:30 in the double elimination tournament.  The winner will advance out to face the winner of #2 seed McCook vs #7 seed Gothenburg in round two on Saturday.  On the other side of the bracket, top seed Holdrege receives a bye in the first round and will face the winner of #4 seed Shelton/Gibbon vs #5 seed Minden in the second round on Saturday.  All Broken Bow games from the area tournament will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.

The Broken Bow American Legion Seniors baseball team (Post 126) will travel to Milbank, South Dakota this weekend for the American Legion Baseball Centennial Classic in celebration of the 100th anniversary of American Legion baseball.  The tournament will feature representatives from the states of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska.  Broken Bow Legion baseball manager Jeff Denson shared with KCNI/KBBN sports on how the Bow seniors came to be the team to represent Nebraska.

“They were looking for a Class B representative. We talked about it a little bit at our January meeting for Nebraska American Legion when we kind of set the season up and nobody had signed up for it. So, I just called and said, well, we’ll throw our name in the hat. And they said, well, right now you’re it. So, we just volunteered and get to go up and play in one of the neater tournaments we’ve ever been around. So, it’s going to be really awesome.”

Broken Bow will play the host team Milbank Post 9 on Friday at 2:30. For a link to a live video stream of the game click here
