The Nebraska School Activities Association and Nebraska Department of Transportation have announced the final standings for the “Buckle Up Phone Down Cup”, the all-activities award for Nebraska high schools. The annual awards program began in the fall of 2006 to recognize the state’s most successful high school athletic and fine arts programs. Awards are presented to the 12 Nebraska high schools that earn the most points during the school year by participating in NSAA education-based activity programs. The cup will be presented to the winning schools in the four classes of the All School division, Girls division, and Boys division during special ceremonies the coming fall.
Winners are determined by a point system based on participation in NSAA education-based activities and performance in state championship events within each division and class. Music, which does not have a state championship event, earns points based on participation and performance at district music contests.
Two schools within the KCNI/KBBN coverage area finished in the top ten of their respective division. Arnold finished second overall in the Class D boys division. Plainview was the Class D boys cup champion with 240 points and Arnold was second with 172.5 points. SEM finished in a tie with Amherst for 8th in the Class D All School division.
