Anselmo-Merna and Mullen were among the teams that competed at the Sutherland wrestling invite on Friday. Sutherland won the team championship. Pleasanton was team runner-up and Anselmo-Merna tied with North Platte St. Pat’s for third in the team standings. AM sent three wrestlers into the championship match of their weight class. Jadon Wells was champion at 150 lbs. and Tyce Porter placed first in the 165 lb. weight class. Jarrett Wells was the runner up at 138 lbs. for the Coyotes. Mullen finished 8th in the team standings on Friday. The Broncos sent two wrestlers into the championship match of their weight class. Chase Gracey was champion at 190 lbs. and Cooper Walker was runner up at 157 lbs. for Mullen.

South Loup, SEM, Sandhills/Thedford and Burwell were among the teams that competed at the Southern Valley duals on Friday. Burwell went undefeated in duals to take 1st place. The Longhorns defeated Centura 72-12 in round one, won over SEM 67-12 in round two, defeated Southern Valley 69-6 in round three, knocked off South Loup in the championship bracket 58-21 and then won the championship dual over Hi-Line 54-27. South Loup placed fourth overall. The Bobcats went 2-3 on the day picking up wins over Hitchcock County and Sandhills/Thedford. South Loup wrestled in the 3rd place dual against Southern Valley with Southern Valley winning 48-34. SEM and Sandhills/Thedford went up against one another in the 5th place dual with SEM winning 48-24.
