The D-2 district boys wrestling tournament concluded on Saturday at Elm Creek. Among the area teams who competed were Anselmo-Merna, Ansley/Litchfield, Arcadia/Loup City, SEM, and Twin Loup. The top four wrestlers in each weight class qualified for the state tournament in Omaha.

Twin Loup qualified five wrestlers for state. Oran Grint helped lead the way for the Wolves winning the district title at 165 lbs. Qualifying for state as the district runner up were Cazen Smith at 157 lbs. and Blake Bottorf at 215. Brent Schipporeit was third at 285 lbs. and Emmett Grint qualified for state finishing third at 150 lbs.

Arcadia/Loup City qualified two wrestlers for state and they were both district champions. Joseph Ducker won the district title at 175 lbs. and Wyatt Stieb was the district champion at 215..

Anselmo-Merna qualified two for state. Jarrett Wells placed 4th at 150 lbs. and Jackson Christen was the third place medalist at 175

SEM’s Heath Henson qualified for state as the district runner up at 165 lbs.

The D-4 district tournament took place at Southwest High School. Among the area teams competing were Mullen, Sandhills/Thedford, South Loup, and Sandhills Valley.

Mullen qualified five wrestlers for state. Jason Kraus was the district champion at 157 lbs. The Broncos picked up runner up finishes from Bo Pettit Jr. at 132 lbs. and Tate Kvanvig at 215. Colby Kessler qualified for state finishing 3rd at 144 lbs. and Cooper Walker qualified as the third place medalist at 175 lbs.

South Loup qualified two wrestlers for state. Josiah Coleman placed third at 120 lbs. and Paxton Bierman qualified as the fourth place medalist at 175 lbs.

Caleb Clark of Sandhills/Thedford qualified for state. Clark was the district champion at 113 lbs.

Burwell won the team championship at D-1 district tournament. The Longhorns qualified eight for state. Ora Chaffin at 120, Brody Jensen at 132, Drew Dawe at 138, Cort Buss at 150, Kolton Thoene at 157, Trentin Brown at 165, Kason Larson at 190, and Owen Stevensen at 215 lbs.
