Area Wrestlers Compete at Amherst Girls Invitational

Amherst hosted a girls wrestling invitational on Saturday.   The team champion was Grand Island.  The runner up was Thayer Central and Sandhills Valley was third.

Among the area highlights, Abby Negley of Gothenburg was champion at 105 lbs.  Chloe Schaeffer of Sandhills Valley was fourth at 110.  Marianne Zuniga of Sandhills Valley was champion at 115 lbs.  Saije Phelps of Sandhills Valley was runner up at 120.  Emma Howerton of Gothenburg was champion at 135.  Ellie Scoville of SEM was champion at 140 and Jessica Carr of Anselmo-Merna placed 4th at 140 lbs.  Mariah Duran of Sandhills Valley was runner up at 155 lbs.  Rylee Kursave of Arcadia/Loup City was champion at 170 lbs.  Zoe Barela of Ansley/Litchfield was 4th at 190 lbs. and Morgan Hawkins of Ansley/Litchfield was champion at 235 lbs.
