Volleyball action took place across the state as teams looked to continue their seasons in subdistrict play starting on Monday in best-of-5-sets matches to kick off the postseason.
Broken Bow goes 1-1 in C1-8 subdistrict in Lincoln
Broken Bow traveled to Lincoln Lutheran High School to do battle in the C1-8 subdistrict. The Indians opened up play as the #4 seed against #5 Central City, tallying an impressive sweep of the Bison by scores of 25-17, 25-11, 25-13.
With the win, Broken Bow advanced to the semifinal against #1 Lincoln Lutheran, a team ranked in the top 10 in the state by several publications. The Indians played tough, but fell in a 3 set match 25-17, 25-11, 25-13. Lincoln Lutheran advanced to play #2 David City for the subdistrict title. David City defeated Kearney Catholic three sets to one.
D1-10 Ansley/Litchfield defends home floor in Ansley, Brady punches ticket to next round
Ansley/Litchfield hosted the four team D1-10 subdistrict on Monday night. Opening round action started with the host Spartans handling the Mavericks of Sandhills Valley 3-0 (25-15, 25-8, 25-8).
In the second match of the night in Ansley, #2 Brady did battle with #3 South Loup, besting the Bobcats three sets to none (25-22, 25-8, 26-24). Ansley/Litchfield and Brady will play Tuesday night at 7 PM in Ansley. The game will be covered on video stream by Sandhills Express. The winner advances to a district final, one win from the state tournament.

S-E-M advances to play in subdistrict final on home floor
The Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs hosted a five team subdistrict that started play on Monday night. The opening match of the night put #4 Palmer up against #5 Twin Loup. The match would prove to be a thriller, going the distance to five sets in length. Palmer would take the win 3-2 (25-20, 24-26, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11) and advance to play the host S-E-M.

The second match of the night between #2 Anselmo-Merna and #3 Elba had plenty of great volleyball played to the tune of four sets, but Elba came away the victor 3-1 (25-21, 14-25, 25-22, 25-22). Elba advanced to the subdistrict final with the win.
S-E-M took on Palmer to close the night after the Tigers advanced to the match out of the bunny bracket win over Twin Loup. Palmer hung tough at moments throughout the match, but ultimately top-10 ranked S-E-M showed their dominance on the way to a 3-0 sweep (25-10, 25-12, 25-17).
S-E-M and Elba will play for the subdistrict title Tuesday night at 6 PM in Sumner on KBBN radio.
