Area Track – Area Athletes Compete at CNTC and SEM Competes at Bertrand

Several area athletes qualified for and took part in the Central Nebraska Track Championships held at Northwest High School in Grand Island on Monday. Among the area highlights, Drew Ellis of Broken Bow placed fourth in the boys shot put (51′ 11.75″) and was sixth in the boys discus (154′ 11″). Tyce Calleroz of Arcadia/Loup City placed 4th in the boys 100 (10.96) and was sixth in the 200 (22.73). Dutch Miller of ALC was 4th in the boys 3200 (10:25.49). Emmet Grint of Twin Loup placed sixth in the boys 300 meter hurdles (42.34).

On the girls side, Mieke van der Walt of Burwell placed 4th in the girls 100 meter hurdles (15.37) and was 6th in the 400 (1:01.74). Addie Critel of Burwell was 4th in the girls 800 (2:25.31) and was 4th in the 1600 (5:29.62). Broken Bow’s Charlee Myers placed 6th in the girls pole vault clearing 9′ 8″.

In the relays, Arcadia/Loup City placed 5th in the boys 4×400 and was 6th in the 4×800. Broken Bow placed 5th in the girls 4×800 followed by Arcadia/Loup City in 6th. Burwell placed 5th in the girls 4×400.

Lena Spencer (Burwell) – 8th in girls 3200 (12:51.7)

In other area track notes, SEM was among the teams that competed at the Jerry Stine Invitational track meet hosted by Bertrand on Monday. Among the highlights for the Mustangs, Taryn Arbuthnot claimed two golds on the day winning the girls long jump with a winning effort of 16′ 4″ and winning the girls 100 meters in a time of 13.03 seconds. Arbuthnot cleared the winning height of 4′ 10″ in the girls high jump but finished second overall after the tie break. SEM’s Kyler Jones won the girls shot put with an effort of 31′ 8″.
