Ansley/Litchfield, Sandhills/Thedford, and SEM were among the teams that competed Thursday at the Pleasanton Track and Field Invitational. Axtell won the boys team championship followed by Riverside 2nd and Ansley/Litchfield was third. Amherst was the girls team champion followed by Ravenna in 2nd place and Overton was third. Recapping some of the area highlights, it was another strong day for Ansley/Litchfield’s Luke Bailey. Bailey had three runner-up finishes placing 2nd in the 110 meter high hurdles and 300 meter intermediate hurdles as well a 2nd place finish in the boys triple jump. Ryan Bailey had two top three finishes placing third in the 300 meter hurdles and was runner up in the boys high jump. Other highlights for the Spartans boys team included Mike Smith placing 3rd in the 110 meter high hurdles and placing 6th in the 300 meter hurdles, Isaac O’Brien was 4th in both the 800 and 1600 meter run, and Owen Cunningham placed 6th in the boys triple jump. A/L’s Donny Lawrence placed third in the 3200 meter run. Highlights for the SEM boys included Darren Schroeder placing third in the boys shot put. Noah Eggleston placed 5th in the 100 meter dash, was 6th in the 200 and was fourth in the long jump. Kellen Eggleston placed fifth in the long jump.
On the girls side, Klarissa Dowdy had a strong day for Ansley/Litchfield. Dowdy was runner-up in the 300 meter hurdles, was fourth in the 100 meter hurdles, 6th in the 400, and placed third in the girls high jump. Other highlights from the area included Jacelyn Hoos of SEM placing third in the girls discus and Josie Smith of SEM placed third in the 3200 meter run and 5th in the mile. Rylin Schledewitz of SEM placed 5th in the 800 meters and was 6th in the 1600. Taylor Weber of Sandhills/Thedford was runner up in the 1600 meter run.
In the relays, Sandhills Thedford (Taylor Weber, Laney Dahlberg, Emily Chavez, Charlsie Teahon) was runner-up in the girls 4×800 meter relay and Ansley/Litchfield was 4th in the event. Ansley/Litchfield (Ryan Bailey, Owen Cunningham, Mike Smith, Luke Bailey) was runner up in the boys 4×400 meter relay.
