Mullen, Anselmo-Merna, and Sandhills Valley were among the teams that competed at the Paxton track and field meet on Thursday. Sandhills Valley won the boys team title with 104 points. Mullen was 4th and Anselmo-Merna 7th in the boys team standings. Wallace won the girls team title with 105 points. Anselmo-Merna was third, Sandhills Valley 8th and Mullen 9th in the girls team standings.
Among the area highlights, Clayton Moore of Mullen swept the boys hurdles winning the 110 meter high hurdles in a time of 15.56 seconds and winning the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 41.18. Moore collected another gold medal in the boys long jump with a winning effort of 21′ 3″. Jaxton Starr of Sandhills Valley won the boys triple jump with an effort of 40′ 3″. Sandhills Valley took gold in the boys throwing events as Tad Dimmitt won the shot put with a winning effort of 53′ 6″ and Colton Miller of Sandhills Valley won the discus with an effort of 132′. Peter Nuvoloni of Anselmo-Merna posted the fastest time in the boys 100 meters winning the event in a time of 11.61 seconds. Nuvoloni also won the 200 in a time of 23.82. Peyton Paxton of Mullen won the girls 1600 in a winning time of 5:42.91. Anselmo-Merna won the girls 4×100 meter relay. The team of Carlee Bartak, Koral Schmidt, Makenna Miller, and Shayleigh Coleman posted a winning time of 55.24.
