Area Teams Compete at Overton Track Invite Until Weather Ends Meet Early

Overton hosted its annual track and field invitational on Tuesday. The meet started Tuesday morning but was not able to be completed due to weather conditions.

Among the area highlights in events that were able to finish, Luke Bailey of Ansley/Litchfield took gold in both the boys long jump and triple jump. Bailey won the boys long jump with an effort of 20’1″, and the boys triple jump with an effort of 41’9″. Rio Remund of South Loup won the boys shot put with a winning effort of 43’11” and Cohen Rohde of SEM was runner up in the event with an effort of 41’5″. Rohde won the boys discus with a top effort of 140’9″. Justin Folkers of Twin Loup won the boys high jump clearing 6’3″ and Ryan Bailey of Ansley/Litchfield was runner-up clearing 6′. Folkers was runner up in the boys triple jump (40’9″). Quincy Ryker of Twin Loup and Dawson Mason of South Loup each cleared the winning height of 10′ in the boys pole vault. Ryker would win the event and Mason was runner-up.

Taryn Arbuthnot of SEM and Kerry Ryan of Ansley/Litchfield each cleared the winning height of 5′ in the girls high jump.  Arbuthnot would win the event and Ryan was runner up. Arbuthnot also won the girls long jump with an effort of 16′.5″. Bryn Schwarz of South Loup won the girls pole vault clearing 8′. Jacelyn Hoos of SEM was runner up in the girls shot put (33’8″).
