Area Teams Compete at Overton Track and Field Invitational

Several teams from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area were among those that competed at the Overton track and field invitational on Tuesday.  South Loup won the girls team title with 109 points.  Overton was 2nd followed Axtell 3rd, Twin Loup 4th and SEM was 5th.  Axtell was the boys team champion with 133 points.  South Loup was just 4 points behind in 2nd followed by Overton in 3rd, SEM 4th, and Twin Loup was 5th.

Among the area highlights, Lance Jones of South Loup won the boys discus with a winning effort of 132′ 8″.  Just two inches separated the top three in the event as Jayson Guthard of SEM was second at 132′ 7″ and Cohen Rohde of SEM was third at 132′ 6″.   Rio Remund of South Loup won the boys shot put with an effort of 50′ 1″ followed by Lance Jones of South Loup in 2nd and Cohen Rohde of SEM was third.  Ansley/Litchfield’s Ryan Bailey won the boys high jump clearing 6′ even and Justin Folkers of Twin Loup placed third in the event.  Noah and Kellen Eggleston of SEM were 2nd and 3rd respectively in the boys long jump and Justin Folkers of Twin Loup and Dylan Pandorf of South Loup finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the boys triple jump.  Slate Micheel of Twin Loup won the boys pole vault clearing 11′ even and Twin Loup’s Hector Estrada was third in the event.  On the track, Mike Smith of A/L and Crew Witthuhn of South Loup were 2nd and 3rd respectively in the boys 110 meter high hurdles.  SEM’s Noah Eggleston placed third in the boys 100.  Cache Gracey of South Loup was champion of the boys 400 in a winning time of 53.34.  Gracey was 2nd in the 200 followed by Kellen Eggleston of SEM in 3rd.   In the boys 800, Silas Cool of South Loup was 2nd and Isaac O’Brien of Ansley/Litchfield placed 3rd.  Josiah Coleman of South Loup was runner up in the 3200 meters.  In the boys 300 meter hurdles, Ryan Bailey of Ansley/Litchfield was runner up followed by teammate Mike Smith in 3rd.  Logan Recoy of South Loup placed third in the boys mile.

On the girls side, Elissa Kipp of Twin Loup won the girls shot put with a winning effort of 33′ 2″ and Kaylee Rohde of Ansley/Litchfield was third in the event.  Taryn Arbuthnot of SEM won the girls high jump clearing 5′ even followed by Kerri Ryan of Ansley/Litchfield in 2nd and Klarissa Dowdy of A/L was third.  Alexis Mauler of Twin Loup won the girls pole vault clearing 8′ even.  Elsie Ottun of Twin Loup won the girls long jump with an effort of 16′ 3″, placed 2nd in the triple jump and was 2nd in the girls 200.  Taryn Arbuthnot of SEM placed 3rd in the girls long jump and was third in the 400.  Abby Stallbaumer of South Loup won the girls discus with an effort of 119′ 4″ and Jacelyn Hoos of SEM was third in the event.   Halie Recoy of South Loup placed third in both the girls 100 and 200 meters.  South Loup’s Ivy Tullis won the girls 800 in a time of 2:43.14 and LoReena Schauda of Twin Loup was third in the event.  In the girls 3200, Talli Martin of South Loup was first in a winning time of 13:16.59 followed by LoReena Schauda of Twin Loup in 2nd and Josie Smith of SEM was third.  Charli Vickers of South Loup won the girls 100 meter hurdles in a time of 17.39 and Klarissa Dowdy of A/L was 3rd.  In the girls 300 meter hurdles, Klarissa Dowdy of Ansley/Litchfield placed first in a winning time of 51.77 seconds followed by Charli Vickers of South Loup in second.  South Loup took the top three spots in the 1600 with Talli Martin winning in a time of 6:02.1 followed by Ivy Tullis in 2nd and Ella Cool finished 3rd.

In the relays, South Loup won the boys 4×800 in a winning time of 8:48.55.  South Loup also won the boys 4×400 in a time of 3:41.34 and Ansley/Litchfield was 3rd in the event.  SEM won the boys 4×100 followed by South Loup in 2nd and Twin Loup was 3rd.  South Loup won the girls 4×800 and was 2nd in the girls 4×100.  Twin Loup was third in the girls 4×400.
